Eye Bags & Dark Circles

E-mail Print PDF

Mark asked:

I have dark circles under my eyes which make me look tired and ill even though I'm not. I've already taken on board the fact that I need to drink lots of water and detox my system, but it looks as though it's just the way my skin colouring is. How can I disguise it without it looking obvious?

Angela says:

This is a common problem for men of all ages and with all skin tones. Your under eyes are one of the first places to suffer if you are not getting enough sleep or you are living an unhealthy lifestyle. Some people do just have a tendency to eye bags, puffy eyes and dark circles though.

If you want to disguise eye bags or circles, the best way is by using men's concealer. You need to choose the shade which is the closest match to your skintone - not the skintone beneath your eyes but elsewhere on your face. Menaji do 3 shades - light, medium and bronze. Myego have a one shade option which acts to reflect light away from problem areas, so it works slightly differently.

To apply, it's probably best to put a small amount of concealer on the tip of your little finger. This means that you can have a really light touch. Just dab concealer bit by bit beneath your eyes, paying particular attention to the darker areas. Blend the concealer with your little finger so that you don't have any visible patches. Remember that you are not trying to hide the eye bags under a mountain of concealer, you are just trying to detract attention away from them with a little light coverage. It does work - just practise until you're satisfied that it looks natural and undetectable - it might take a few attempts and try to apply the concealer in natural light or as close to that as possible.
