Claire Mitchell is co-owner of astonmitchell with her friend and colleague Kate Jones. She has done a man makeover on DJ Scott Mills live on Radio One and has just been filming for a major TV show (top secret)! She's in the know when it comes to men's cosmetics.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors, even if it's only waiting for buses or trains, then be kind to your skin and use a moisturiser. It will help to protect your skin against the drying effects of wind and cold weather and will make you look much healthier! There is nothing like dry cracked skin to make you look and feel worn out - so don't take a chance. Put it on before you leave the house and again before you go to bed and you'll notice a difference really quickly.

We travelled down to film with The Apprentice team last year and the results are on TV 25th May 2011. Watch out tonight and you'll see us doing our men's makeup stuff!

We did makeovers on Leon and Vincent - with mixed results!

Are you the lucky man getting hitched or his best man? Either way you’re going to be in plenty of pictures and you’ll want to look your best.

The New York Times has given a nod to the wonderful products from Menaji in an article highlighting the recent rise in popularity of men’s cosmetics.

Is it some Fontana Contarini lip care to save chapped lips? Or a Ralph Lauren scarf?

Discreet Disguise Products

Hardly anyone over a certain age has perfect skin - it's just a fact of life. From eye bags to blemishes, small scars, acne, shaving nicks, shiny nose or forehead - they are just facts of life which most guys have to deal with. But here's the thing - we've got a whole bunch of great products which will help you disguise and conceal, detract attention and stop shine - products which will help you look more polished, give you a healthy glow or help to deal with pesky blemishes. Look no further - here's our Discreet Disguise wishlist.

Top of the list is the excellent Menaji antishine which helps to tackle shiny skin but also doubles up as a foundation to help even out skintone. Michele Probst, founder of Menaji and makeup artist to the stars (including President Barack Obama) mentioned to us that she uses her Menaji antishine as a foundation on her clients and we love it. She simply dampens the sponge applicator, or a cotton wool ball or makeup wedge and mixes in a little water or moisturiser into one side of the powder compact. This produces a lightweight, creamy foundation which goes on to give a very natural matt finish. You can keep one side of the powder compact dry for use as the antishine powder and the other half for use as a foundation mixer. Top quality and top value in a blokey kind of way. A great, masculine looking product to have in your briefcase or on your bathroom shelf. Perfect for anyone who needs to look cool, calm and collected.

Second is another Menaji product, the Camo Concealer. As you can see in the Wayne Goss video on our homepage, this undetectable concealer is so creamy and light that it can be used as a very light foundation too.  If you have under eye bags then put some concealer on your little finger for a more precise, delicate application. Dab it on the area beneath the eyes without dragging the skin - just pat and gently blend in and you should notice a definite impovement in the appearance of the dark area. Use it on shaving nicks, on small scars and blemishes and to even out small patches of blotchiness or a variation in skin colour. This is a great product which is handy to have - why nick it off a girl when you can have your very own?

MYEGO Cover Select Concealer is an excellent alternative to Touche Eclat and looks much more manly! It refreshes and brightens complexion, helps to hide fatigue, conceals imperfections, disguises dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. MYEGO Cover Select is an easy-to-apply liquid concealer that refreshes and brightens your complexion to give a healthy, natural look. COVER SELECT conceals imperfections and evens the skintone, helping to disguise uneven patches. Light-diffusing particles cover dark circles and puffiness under and around the eyesMYEGO COVER SELECT comes in one unique shade which blends in to suit all skin types

Taxi Disguys Concealer is a great starter product which won't break the bank. It's brought to us by the company who brought us Manscara and Guyliner. A twist up stick concealer, it is specially formulated in Switzerland to naturally disguise blemishes and dark circles. The easy to blend formulation contains Vitamins A & C plus anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial ingredients (Witch Hazel).

Several men's makeup ranges feature products which can have dual purpose uses. Some talk about it, some don't, but we've chatted to the brand owners and we know these things!

So, if you want to really get the most out of your men's makeup, here is a great dual purpose product to consider.

Today's dual purpose star is the excellent Menaji antishine which doubles up as a foundation. Michele Probst, founder of Menaji and makeup artist to the stars (including President Barack Obama) mentioned to us that she uses her Menaji antishine as a foundation on her clients.

Have you ever wondered which shade is right for you when you're choosing a concealer or antishine/foundation? In order to help get the most natural effect you need to get the closest match to your skintone. We thought that you might like us to give you a guide to choosing the right shade for your skin colour. Sadly none of the manufacturers are currently able to offer samples yet so we will try to give you a good insight into the various colour options. We are using the Menaji colour guides as most of our enquiries relate to the Menaji concealer and antishine

LIGHT SHADE The light shade is designed for really pale skins. If you are very light skinned and don't tan then this is the shade for you. This skin type tends to suffer from blotchiness so our concealers and foundations are perfect to help even out your skintone and naturally disguise any redness.   Tips for this skin type -take care to go easy with any products - pale, delicate skin will be more prone to looking 'made up' so just use a tiny amount at a time until you've achieved the look you want. If you want to add some natural looking colour then consider using one of our Fontana Contarini foundations which are very very lightweight, much more like a tinted moisturiser. This will give you a subtle healthy glow. Opt for the Light option (7). If you are considering using eyeliner then opt for a brown shade rather than black as it will be too heavy for your colouring. Black mascara might also be too heavy but give it a try - if you are dark haired then it will be fine but if you are a red head or blonde then it might just be too much and you might want to opt for a clear mascara   to add definition but not colour. If you are using concealer, choose the light shade in Menaji and use it sparingly. Celebrities with this skintone are: Ronan Keating, Prince Harry and even Tom Cruise and Zac Efron although we usually see them made up so we are just guessing!

MEDIUM SHADE

The light shade is designed for you if you have a standard caucasian skintone. This skin type is pretty easy to deal with as it isn't prone to anything other than the usual pimples & blemishes. This skin type tans if care is taken to protect it with sunscreen and if you have this skin type then you can pretty much try any men's makeup products - lucky you!   Tips for this skin type -as with fair skin, take care to go easy with any products - although you can get away with using more, just use a tiny amount at a time until you've achieved the look you want. Our Fontana Contarini foundations will help you to get a healthy glow and you can try light or medium depending on the effect you prefer - both shades are very subtle and just give you a 'polished' look. You can use the Menaji antishine/foundation to help you even out any uneven skin patches and prevent shine. For concealers choose either Menaji medium Camo or alternatively MyEgo, Taxi Disguys or Touche Eclat will work very well with your colouring. You can use eyeliners and mascaras in black provided that you build up the colour gradually - if you apply it too heavily it might look too much. Blondes will always need to go sparingly with makeup even if you have a medium skintone.   Celebrities with this skintone are: Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Russell Brand, Robbie Williams

BRONZE SHADE

The bronze shade is designed for olive skins. If you have a typical mediterranean or far eastern complexion then you would probably fall into this category. This skin colour already has a lovely naturally healthy glow and might just have a tendency to become greasy. You can use most of our products but probably won't need some of them as your colouring won't need them.   Tips for this skin type - our Menaji bronze Camo Concealer and bronze Antishine/Foundation will be perfect for you if you have undereye bags or shiny skin - both traits of this skin type. You won't need our Fontana Contarini foundations unless you're feeling a bit jaded in the winter months and need a slight hint of colour. Opt for the Medium option (8). You can use mascara and eyeliner to lengthen lashes and give definition to your eyes if you need it. You can also use our tinted lip balms to give your lips a healthy sheen. The key to keeping your skin looking great is to ensure that it's in tip top condition - make sure you exfoliate regularly and moisturise often to ensure that you don't get a build up of dull dead skin.   Celebrities with bronze colouring are Antonia Banderas, George Cloony, Enrique Eglesias and Ricky Martin

DARK SHADE

The dark shade is designed for anyone with afro-caribbean colouring. It will also apply to dark skinned asian skintones. The dark skintone doesn't need much help to look great - if you are lucky enough to fall into this group then you probably already have a great naturally healthy glow. You might suffer from acne scars, however, which on your skin colour show up as very dark scars. There is not a lot you can do about this but you might find a touch of concealer could help to tone them down. Tips for this skin type -to maintain your fabulous healthy glow make sure that you exfoliate and moisturise regularly to avoid 'dull' skin. If your skin has a tendency to look chalky just make sure that you drink lots of water and keep hydrated, and follow a good skincare routine. For small scars and blemishes try the Menaji Camo concealer 'dark' shade - to deal with too much shine, use our Menaji antishine/foundation. This shade is used by Barack Obama and we think he always looks great. You can use mascara and eyeliner to add definition and lengthen lashes and you can also use any of our tinted lip moisturisers.

Celebrities with this skin type include Barack Obama, Denzel Washington, Jimmy Mistry and Fifty Cent.

OK guys - a few tips. If you're going somewhere hot and sunny, whether it's Ibiza, the Bahamas or Somerset, you MUST MUST MUST use sun lotion. The biggest factor in ageing is sun damage - it's irreparable and it's just not a good look. The higher the factor the better. You will still tan, just more slowly and your skin will suffer less.

Anything else you can do pales into insignificance alongside avoiding sun damage.

Most sun lotions have a moisturising effect but make sure that you moisturise daily when you come back.

Remember if you wear concealer or foundation regularly, you will need to have a 'pre tan' and 'post tan' variation. If you're normally 'light' then you will need at least a medium if you get a tan. Same goes for 'medium' to 'bronze'. Always get the closest match to your skintone at the time.

Fontana Contarini is our best selling Italian range. They have been innovative in their approach to men's makeup and skincare and we really like them. We have a slight problem in that our team speaks 6 languages but, sadly, not Italian so our communications are somewhat challenging. Luckily the fabulous Claudio does a sterling job of emailing in impressive English and we've so far managed to avoid any major misunderstandings...

Their new Flawless foundation is flying off the shelves and we're getting really good feedback. It's a really natural looking product which is designed for men's skin and won't clog your pores or gather in beard follicles.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. You'll be in the spotlight all day, the subject of numerous photographs and videos. Undoubtedly there will be a huge wedding photo produced after the event which will hang on your wall for the rest of your days. So you NEED to look your best. Nerves, lack of sleep, rushing around and mild panic are all notoriously bad for your skin. Blemishes, bags under your eyes, shiny skin... they are all really common but there are ways to avoid being the bridegroom with the blemish. With the right make-up you can look healthy, tanned and gorgeous and no-one should even know you're wearing it.

We have a great range of natural-looking men's make-up including concealers, foundations, anti-shine powders and bronzers which will give you the subtle finish you need.

We can do next day delivery, even on Saturdays, but it's best to plan ahead. Assume that you might just wake up on your Wedding day with a spot and ensure that you've got your men's concealer in the bathroom cabinet ready and waiting, in good time. Have a practise with the products and work out how to look your best, well before the big day. On the day itself you want to be confident and relaxed when you're getting ready - you will have enough on your mind being the bridegroom, without panicking about make-up. We have some videos on our men's makeup page which will help you get started. A few weeks before your wedding day it would be a really good idea to start a skincare routine, if you don't already have one. Find some skincare products which you like and start to use them regularly. A weekly deep cleanse and exfoliation/facial scrub is a great way to get rid of toxins and dead skin, leaving your skin looking really fresh and healthy. A good moisturiser is essential to stop your skin drying out and feeling taut. Good shaving products are also a great way to ensure that you don't cause undue stress to your skin - avoiding blotches, sore patches and blemishes.
You're going to invest so much time and money in clothes, the venue, flowers, music, food and a honeymoon at the very least - don't compromise on your look and your confidence. Try some of our men's make-up products today and work out the best look for you.

Congratulations and all the best for your Wedding!

Well the simple answer is yes - it has to be. Men have 20% oilier skin than women. They have thicker skin than women (yes literally) and they have more collagen in their skin than women. Men's skin also has beard growth and men shave.

Put all of these facts together and it results in a need for specialist men's makeup, cosmetics and skincare.

Michele Probst of Menaji has known this for years, which is why she developed a range of antishine, concealer and other skincare items which suit men's skin perfectly. Her Menaji range is extremely popular in the US and is one of our best selling ranges in the UK.

We love Rehab London - its a great range of cheeky facial skincare products for men designed by Celebrity makeup artist Lisa Hilton.

Steve Jones is a big fan of Revive Survive.  Lisa says "Steve Jones is up for Rehab London especially the Revive Survive after a big night and likes the fact it doesnt leave any residue on his skin!!"

Who are we to argue? We love it too. Only £14.95 and it will last you for ages.

In addition they have a great range of facial and body moisturisers designed for guys which are of the same high quality as the rest of the FC range.
